What is ICSSR?

Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) was established in the year of 1969 by the Government of India to promote research in social sciences in the country. [Click here to know more]

Who can get what?

Programme / Grant

  Eligibility

Fellowship

 

 

National Fellowships

 

National Fellowships are offered to eminent retired socials scientists, who have made outstanding contribution to research in their respective fields, to enable them to continue their academic work and research.

Senior Fellowships

 

Senior Fellowships are awarded to social scientists between the age group of 45-70 years, who have done Ph D and have quality research work, publications and papers in professional journals to their credit. Besides, civil servants, journalists and social workers for their academic interests are also considered.

Post-Doctoral Fellowships

 

Post-Doctoral Fellowships are awarded to scholars, below the age of 45 years, who have shown significant competence in research work, have completed their Ph.D. at the time of their application and desire to work on approved research themes at institutions of excellence under the guidance of senior social scientists

Doctoral Fellowships

 

Doctoral Fellowships are open to doctoral students, preferably below the age of 40 years, who have a Master's degree from a recognized university with a first or second class and are registered for a doctoral degree in social sciences.

Research Projects

 

 

Research Projects

 

Professional social scientists who are regularly employed or retired as faculty in a UGC recognized Indian university/deemed university/colleges with requisite research infrastructure/institute of national importance and ICSSR Research Institutes, and possessing a Ph.D. degree or equivalent research work in any of the social science discipline and demonstrable research experience through publications of books/research papers/reports are eligible to apply.

 

Senior government and defence officers (not less than 25 years of regular service) and persons with proven Social Science expertise possessing a Ph. D. degree or equivalent research work in any social science disciplines and demonstrable research experience through publications of books/research papers/reports can also apply.

Research Projects Sponsored

 

ICSSR Research Institutes/institute of national importance as defined by the HRD Ministry/ UGC recognized Indian university/deemed university/ are eligible to apply. However, other registered organisations with established research and academic standing may collaborate with the main applying institution/project director.

International Collaboration

 

 

Visit of Scholars Under Cultural Exchange Programmes

 

Scholars engaged in social science research who may require visiting any of the country with whom ICSSR has agreements under Cultural/Educational Exchange Programmes for collection of research material, consultation and interaction with experts, etc. for their specific research.

Participation In International Seminar Abroad

 

Indian social scientists, whose paper has been accepted for presentation in conferences/seminars/workshops organized by institutions abroad who have significant academic credibility.

Data Collection Abroad

 

Faculty members in universities/colleges recognized by UGC, publicly funded research institutes or ICSSR funded/recognized institutes having a Ph.D will be eligible to apply for the grants.

Seminars/ Conferences/ Workshops in India

 

The organizing institution, to which the grant shall released, should be from either of the stipulated categories.

Training and Capacity Building

 

 

Grants to Organise Research Methodology Course/SPSS For PH.D Students

 

The organizing institution, to which the grant shall released, should be from either of the stipulated categories.

Capacity Building Programme for Faculty in Social Sciences

 

The organizing institution, to which the grant shall released, should be from either of the stipulated categories.

Research Survey and Publication

 

 

Publication of Doctoral theses, research reports etc

 

Indian nationals for publication of manuscripts of the research work done in any field of social sciences, subject to the condition of merit of the work.

Maintenance & development

 

A national level registered association / organisation having of standing of not less than five years.

Publication of Journals

 

Professional Journal published by a national level registered association / organisation having of standing of not less than five years.

 

What is ICSSR Data Service?

ICSSR Data Service aims to facilitate data sharing, preservation, accessibility and reuse of social science research data collected from entire social science community in India & abroad.

Who can avail NASSDOC facility?

NASSDOC library’s facility is available to its members. Membership is open to general public under various categories. There is no fee for guest readers who want to consult the library for a day or two. They are issued a guest card for the day. [Click here to know more about membership]
