General Terms and Conditions

1. Candidates should possess the requisite qualification from a recognised University/Institution.

2. Candidates should possess working knowledge of library automation, digital library applications, documentation work, and computer applications in libraries, along with communication and interpersonal skills.

3. Candidates should carefully verify the prescribed eligibility conditions for the respective category and clearly indicate the position/category applied for, namely Library Professional Trainee (UG), Library Professional Trainee (PG), or Library Professional Trainee (PhD), in the application form.

4. Candidates possessing higher qualifications may apply for lower categories, subject to the fulfilment of the prescribed eligibility conditions and the upper age limit applicable to the respective category applied for. However, the monthly stipend and other terms and conditions shall be applicable only to the position/category applied for.

5. A candidate shall be considered only for the position/category specifically applied for. No candidate shall be considered for any other category during the selection process.

6. The crucial date for determining the upper age limit shall be the last date prescribed for receipt of applications.

7. Age relaxation shall be applicable as per the Government of India rules.

8. Selection shall be made on the basis of academic performance, relevant skills, and performance in the written test and/or interview/interaction(s), as determined by ICSSR.

9. Mere fulfilment of the prescribed qualifications shall not entitle a candidate to be called for a written test/interview/interaction or engagement.

10. ICSSR reserves the right to adopt appropriate shortlisting criteria, including higher qualifications, experience, academic performance, and relevant skills, for the purpose of scrutiny and selection. Ordinarily, shortlisted candidates may be called in a ratio of up to 1:12 against the number of tentative positions for the respective category.

11. The engagement shall be purely temporary and initially for a period of one year, which may be extended further based on functional requirements and satisfactory performance, subject to the approval of the Competent Authority.

12. Interested candidates shall submit their applications online through the ICSSR website (www.icssr.org) in the prescribed format along with copies of educational qualifications, experience certificates, if any, and a recent passport-size photograph. No hard copy of the application or supporting documents is required to be submitted.

13. The last date for submission of online applications shall be 15/07/2026.

14. Incomplete applications and applications received after the prescribed last date shall not be considered.

15. ICSSR reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of positions or to cancel the engagement process at any stage without assigning any reason.

16. No TA/DA shall be admissible for attending the written test/interview/interaction. However, TA/DA shall be admissible to unemployed SC/ST candidates as per the Government of India rules.

17. The decision of ICSSR shall be final and binding in all matters relating to scrutiny, shortlisting, selection, engagement, and interpretation of eligibility conditions.
