Prof. Ranjana Bajpai is Head, Department of Geography in Ravenshaw University, a 150 year- old institution of Cuttack, Odisha since September 2010. She started her career in teaching and research from D.B.S. College, Kanpur, U.P. (April 2003- April 2010). After a brief stint of five months in Utkal University from May 2010-August 2010, she joined Ravenshaw. She has taught papers like Geographical Thought, Geomorphology, Social Geography, Biogeography and Political Geography at UG and PG level and Research Methodology in Ph.D. program. She has supervised 09 M.Phil and 09 Ph.D. scholars (04 awarded).

She graduated in Geography (Hons.) from Dyal Singh College, University of Delhi in 1996 and completed her Masters in Geography from Centre for the Study of Regional Development, School of Social Sciences, JNU in 1998 with specialization in Social Geography. She completed her M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Political Geography from Centre for International Politics, Organization and Disarmament, School of International Studies, JNU in 2000 and 2008, respectively.

Her research interests include environment- development interface, gender and et hno - ecology of tribes. She is the author of State, Development and Deforestation: A Study of Brazil’s Amazonian Policies (2010). She has many publications and invited lectures to her credit. Besides, she has handled many important academic assignments in many Indian universities.
