CAG-ICSSR Colloquium on State of the Finances of Assam and Implementation of Schemes for Welfare of Tea Tribes

From Punjab, the CAG-ICSSR Colloquium reaches Assam, its fifth Chapter.

CAG & ICSSR will be organising a Colloquium on State of the Finances of Assam and Implementation of Schemes for Welfare of Tea Tribes on 16th March 2026. The CAG-ICSSR colloquium will engage leading scholars and practitioners led by Prof. Nisar A. Barua, Department of Economics, Guwahati University, Sh. Gaurav Kumar, Accountant General (Audit), Assam, Prof. Dhananjay Singh, Member Secretary, ICSSR, Sh. Calvin Harris Kharshiing, Additional Deputy CAG (North Eastern Region), Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta, Vice Chancellor, Gauhati University, Dr. Rajdeep Singha, Associate Professor, OKD Institute of Social Change and Development, and Sh. Bappaditya Majumdar, Deputy Accountant General (AMG IV and LGA).

This Colloquium will deliberate upon the state of finances of Assam and the implementation of welfare schemes for Tea Tribes fostering dialogue on transparency, effectiveness, and inclusive development pathways. It further aims to deepen understanding of fiscal accountability while reflecting on how policy implementation can better serve historically marginalized communities.

By assessing the design, delivery, and effectiveness of welfare initiatives, the colloquium seeks to identify policy gaps, strengthen accountability mechanisms, and generate evidence-based insights for improving programme implementation.

The colloquium aspires to contribute to more responsive governance and enhanced socio-economic opportunities for Tea Tribes, ensuring that public finance meaningfully advances inclusive and equitable development.
