PUBLICATION SUBSIDY

 
 
The ICSSR provides subsidy to publishers to publish doctoral dissertations, research reports, seminar proceedings and books. Sometimes, ICSSR bears the entire responsibility of publishing a manuscript on its own or through the cooperation of a commercial publisher. The ICSSR approved Ph.D. dissertations or research reports, converted into book form are eligible to receive subsidy for publication. Persons desirous of taking advantage of this scheme may see Annexure I & Annexure II and send their application forms together with supporting documents to the Director (RSP), ICSSR.
 
 
The following information may also be relevant to the Applicants:
 
The Council is providing financial subsidy for publication of manuscripts of the research work done by senior research scholars, as well as, by the young research scholars, subject to the condition of merit of their work and to encourage them. The research work may be in the following forms :
 
Doctoral Thesis (The thesis should not be more than three years old from the date of award). The scholars can apply on the prescribed Application Form ( See Annexure-I) duly filled-in and signed by the applicant along with all the supporting documents, to the Director, Research Survey and Publication Division (RSP), ICSSR, JNU Institutional Area, Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, New Delhi-110 067.
Reports of research projects/fellowships and papers presented in seminars/symposia/workshops organized  by the ICSSR (See Annexure II).
Reports of research projects and other research work    ( See Annexure II).
Bibliographical and Documentation Works (See Annexure-II).
 
N.B. All manuscripts mentioned above must be adequately transformed into more reader friendly formats.
 
Under this scheme, the financial assistance at present is of a maximum amount of Rs.50,000/- .
 
General Conditions
 
a.
The manuscript approved for grant-in-aid under this scheme shall be published through a publisher duly approved by the ICSSR.
b.
The awardee has to enter into an agreement with any publisher, but with the prior approval of the ICSSR.
c.
Submit a copy of the Agreement with the publisher to the ICSSR
d.
The publisher shall pay a royalty of 10% of the printed price on actual sales to the author.
e.
The price of the book shall not exceed five times the net investment (Actual Cost of Production less the Amount of Subsidy sanctioned by the ICSSR) made by the publisher.
f.
Get prior approval of the ICSSR for any change in the Title of the publication.
g.
The publisher shall submit 35 copies of the publication to the ICSSR, free of charge, along with utilization certificate, grant-in-aid bill and authority letter from the author authorizing the publisher to receive the grant directly from the ICSSR.
h.
The publications supported under this scheme must include the following informations:
 
The publication was supported by the ICSSR.
The responsibility for the facts stated, opinions expressed, or conclusions reached, is entirely that of the author and that the ICSSR accepts no responsibility for them.
Name of the Consultant who evaluated the research work on behalf of the ICSSR.
i.
The work should be published within one year  from the date of award of the Grant.
j.
The offer for the grant-in-aid will automatically lapse after one year , unless the period is extended upon specific request from the author or the publisher.
k.
The publications should be of high quality from production point of view.
l.
The ICSSR reserves the right to remove the name of the publisher from the approved list of publishers, for not implementing the terms of the scheme, in particularly for non payment of royalty to the author as per the Agreement.
m.
ICSSR may purchase copies of the publications on requirement, and the publisher shall give commission on such purchase, as the ICSSR determines from time to time.
