Grants for Organising Training Courses in Research Methodology
and Computer Applications in
Social Science Research

|
The ICSSR as part of its research promotion
activities, sponsors short-term training courses in research methodology
in order to improve research skills and competence of the young social
scientists to undertake research. Research institutions and
college/university departments and other academic bodies are provided
financial support to organise short-term training
courses in research methodology and computer applications in social
science research for the benefit of young researchers, teachers
in college/universities and Ph.D. scholars. Training courses could be
organised on general social science research methodology,
discipline-specific research methodology, around themes of current
interest cutting across disciplinary boundaries or in computer
applications in social science research.

| Target Group | ||||||||||||||||||||

The primary target group for training programme is
young researchers (who may or may not be pursuing doctoral research),and
teachers in colleges, university departments and academic institutions
who are engaged in research, or are planning to undertake research.

| How and When to Apply ? | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
The Application for organizing training courses should give details of the faculty and research profile of the institution/organization and details of proposed training course containing. a short introduction, objective of the training course, the target group, the duration and tentative dates, course content and topics to be covered with a detailed time-table, the list of faculty along with a budget to the ICSSR for its consideration. The application should be forwarded by the affiliating institution. The proposal for proposed training course should mention the name of the Course Dector, who would be responsible for conducting this course and to submit a Course Director’s Report after the completion of the training course. All applications will be examined by the secretariat and evaluated by Expert Committee and Research Committee which meets from time to time for its consideration. The proposal must be submitted to the ICSSR at least three months in advance from the proposed dates.

| Grants and Budget | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
The grants-in-aid is provided to cover expenditures
to meet TA/DA expenses of participants and the faculty (both local and
non-local);reading materials for participants; honorarium to the Course
Director and faculty; cost of reference books to be purchased for the
training course; postage and stationery charges; computer analysis charges
(for training courses with a component of data processing) and over heads
at five percent of the total estimated cost. For formulating budget the
current guidelines on the training programme may be consulted.

The grant is released to the institution in two instalments.
About eighty to eighty five percent of the grant is released as first
instalment and remaining amount is released after the submission and acceptance
of the Course Director's Report and audited statement of accounts.
